19 November, World Toilet Day 2022: SFA Group becomes Gold Partner of the World Toilet Organization
On the occasion of World Toilet Day 2022, on November 19th, the SFA Group announces that it has become a Gold Partner of the Word Toilet Organization.
This is a logical continuation of the regular commitment of the group, a responsible and civic-minded European manufacturer, which has already supported World Toilet Day through various concrete actions carried out both in France and internationally (Senegal, Cambodia, etc.) for the development of sanitary facilities for all and everywhere on the planet. These are ongoing initiatives that also contribute to the education of all and to the necessary awareness of the importance of good hygiene and sanitary conditions.
It should be noted that the WTO (World Toilet Organization) is an NGO created in 2001 and that in 2013 it had 122 UN countries adopt the resolution designating 19 November as World Toilet Day. The WTO's objectives include promoting access to toilets for all throughout the world, improving public health and the well-being of people by increasing access to water sanitation.
The NGO has provided more than 1.2 million people with toilets and sanitation facilities since 2011 through effective advocacy and policy influence. Other striking data: nearly 2.5 billion people do not have access to a basic sanitation system, 4.2 billion of us do not have a toilet at home or a toilet that allows for hygienic management of excrement, or more than 1/3 of the world's schools do not have a toilet (source: 2019 Joint Monitoring Programme - WHO/UNICEF).
A cruel lack that unfortunately results in the annual death of 1.8 million people - mainly children -, in addition to numerous cases of disease (dysentery, cholera, hepatitis) and infections. Improving sanitation facilities has a positive impact on the living conditions and economic growth of developing countries. Indeed, a UN and WHO study showed that every dollar invested in improving sanitation facilities led to an increase in productivity of up to $34.
